New Direction

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Dear Friends,

It’s a new year, a new economy and a new time in our world as we know it, and Insight Nutrition is no exception.  After much deliberation I have come to a decision to redefine my work and how I help my clients.  Over the past years, I have worked with each of you individually which has been wonderful, but I have also realized I am just one person and it is difficult to support each and every one of you the way I would like to on a one-on-one basis.  With that, I am changing my business model from individual consultations to group classes effective March 1, 2009.

As part of this evolution, I have always wanted to implement other pieces into my business model which includes expanded nutritional support, like exercise and stress mitigation.  From my experience, I believe that one of the biggest pitfalls in getting healthy is the “lack of support” – my idea and redefinition of the business is to change that concept.  By offering group nutritional and related classes I can achieve the concept of a balanced holistic approach for you.

For the next eight weeks I will be planning and creating a whole new way for us to get healthy and stay healthy together.   Stay posted for upcoming class descriptions and schedules.

Here are some current group ideas –

* Clean and Lean Program – two weeks of detoxification and four weeks of weight management = 6 weeks of encouragement and support and RESULTS.

* Healthy Aging

* Weight Loss and Body Sculpting

* Athletic Performance Maximization

Group classes will ultimately be a cost savings to you while receiving more value and support in this setting.  Some classes will include other related topics along with the nutrition piece, such as stress management, meditation, yoga, group hikes, runs and bike rides for all levels, cooking and shopping excursions and events.  Watch for details on the different classes and events.  Your ideas and feedback are always welcome.

Autoship and supplement customers - there will be a few changes to this program and you will receive another email addressing the supplement part of the business.

I have shared these ideas with some of my closest colleagues and the new plan has been well received and others are excited to be a part of this next chapter and I hope you will be too.

Thank you for your understanding and your continued support.

To Your Good Health,

Amy

Gift ideas?

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Well the holidays are truly upon us.  If you are like me I have a hard time choosing and giving gifts for friends and loved ones. Partly because I think most people just don’t need or want more stuff! There is ONE thing I believe we all want for ourselves and all of our favorite people and that is HEALTH!  Body, Mind and Spirit!  Here are some of my favorite ideas along that theme that are just a little different;

* Donate to your friend or loved ones favorite charity on their behalf and give them a card to tell them about it.
* Make something homemade, pictures of fun times and adventures together make meaningful cherished gifts.
* Write them a story or a poem about how grateful you are for them.
* Cook or bake something healthy for an alternative to all the sweets we often begrudgingly indulge in this time of year.
* Make gift certificates for a future hike, bike ride, meditate or workout together or doing something healthy together.
* And if you cannot think of anything to give may I suggest - giving them the “Gift of Health” by purchasing a gift certificate from Insight Nutrition in any denomination for products or services that are all about health!

True Gratitude

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Often when we practice being thankful, we go through the process of counting our blessings, acknowledging the wonderful people, things and places that make up our reality. While it is fine to be grateful for the good fortune we have accumulated, true thankfulness stems from a powerful comprehension of the gift of simply being alive, and when we feel it, we feel it regardless of our circumstances. In this deep state of gratitude, we recognize the purity of the experience of being, in and of itself, and our thankfulness is part and parcel of our awareness that we are one with this great mystery that is life.

It is difficult for most of us to access this level of consciousness as we are very caught up in the ups and downs of our individual experiences in the world. The thing to remember about the world, though, is that it ebbs and flows, expands and contracts, gives and takes, and is by its very nature somewhat unreliable. If we only feel gratitude when it serves our desires, this is not true thankfulness. No one is exempt from the twists and turns of fate, which may, at any time, take the possessions, situations, and people we love away from us. Ironically, it is sometimes this kind of loss that awakens us to a thankfulness that goes deeper than just being grateful when things go our way. Illness and near-miss accidents can also serve as wake-up calls to the deeper realization that we are truly lucky to be alive.

We do not have to wait to be shaken to experience this state of being truly thankful for our lives. Tuning in to our breath and making an effort to be fully present for a set period of time each day can do wonders for our ability to connect with true gratitude. We can also awaken ourselves with the intention to be more aware of the unconditional generosity of the life force that flows through us regardless of our circumstances.
